I'm Jeff Andersen, and I’d love to share my journey with you—a journey that led to the creation of Grapple Guard, a body wash brand dedicated to combat athletes.
From a young age, martial arts were my passion. I started with Taekwondo and karate, disciplines that instilled in me the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance. As I grew older, I discovered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA, which brought new challenges and deeper insights into the martial arts world. But in 2011, during a routine training session, my life took an unexpected turn. I contracted a stubborn staph infection that not only took me off the mats but kept me away from training for nearly a decade.
This period was challenging, filled with life's highs and lows. I missed the camaraderie, the physical and mental benefits of training, and the simple joy of practicing the martial arts I loved. But this hiatus also gave me a chance to reflect. I realized that there were very few products tailored specifically for the needs of combat athletes—people like me who are constantly grappling, rolling, and pushing their bodies to the limit. Hygiene is crucial in our sport, and I found myself influenced by conversations online, particularly those from figures like Joe Rogan, who emphasized its importance.
Fast forward to 2022, I finally made my way back to the mats. The joy of returning to training was immense, but the concerns about hygiene and skin health were still fresh in my mind. That’s when the idea for Grapple Guard was born. I wanted to create a product that would support athletes in their pursuit of excellence, providing them with a body wash that not only keeps them clean but also supports their skin’s natural defenses.
But Grapple Guard is more than just a soap company; it's a reflection of my journey and the lessons I've learned along the way. As a father, I strive to set a positive example for my children, teaching them the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of taking care of oneself. These values are at the core of Grapple Guard. I wanted to create a product that I could be proud of, one that embodies the same dedication and passion that I bring to my training and my life.

Jiu Jitsu, BJJ, Judo, Gi, no Gi, MMA, catch wrestling, etc. We love it all. We also love to be able to train as often as possible and we don’t want to lose time on the mat.
Most seasoned practitioners know all too well that fungal infection is a concern when practicing grappling sports because the close contact with your training partners and the matt that occurs during training can increase the risk of spreading bacteria.
Infections can cause a range of symptoms, from minor skin infections such as boils and impetigo to more serious infections such as blood poisoning and pneumonia. In some cases, staph infections can become severe and even life-threatening.
